Château Picoron is based in the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux AOP, where we proudly craft and release three distinct expressions each year.
Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux.
Our 4.5-hectare vineyard, farmed organically, sits on the celebrated plateau of clay & limestone that defines the great wines of St Émilion.
However, we choose to release a few different cuvées in Vin de France, free to follow our own path.
A 4.5-hectare boutique estate, proudly producing eight expressions of Merlot — each with its own delightful character.
A Workshop for Potential Wines.
One grape, eight different expressions — from cloudy experimental wines to barrel-aged Castillon classics. We believe nature to be our greatest collaborator. When it comes to producing our wine — less is more.
Inspired by the Oulipo literary movement, we embrace constraints as creative catalysts. The Bordeaux climate, the Merlot grape, the limestone soil, the single plot — the rules within which we find freedom.
Every wine name reads the same forwards and backwards. The constraint is the identity.
Of Winemaking.
Winemaking at our estate began over 2,000 years ago, and from 1570 continued by the Picoron family.
Since 2015, Glenda & Frank Kalyk and our Australian family are pursuing this legacy. We do not replicate — we innovate.
We do not seek to be compared, but to express wines which are uniquely ours, to share with friends and family.
